2025 SD Missions Prayer Letters

Pathway is returning to San Diego for the first time since 2019. We are so excited to be able to connect with churches and ministries down in SD, giving extra hands and feet to some amazing programs that want to bless their communities by showing God’s love. Please read through the prayer letters of our teams below and pray for our team as they travel.

If you would like to pray with us during the week, please contact us and let us know in the comments that you would like email updates throughout the week. Our home team will be collecting and sending out updates to supporters.

Aki L

Hello friends my name is Aki. I am currently in competitive baseball and basketball. I am also in 6th grade. This summer I will be going to San Diego for missions to help people who are going through hard times. I just ask that you pray for me and everyone else’s health, for protection and that through my work in San Diego I can show Gods love and the gospel.

Dickon W

Hello Everybody!

I’m Dickon, and here’s what is going on with me. I’ve been mostly working this summer, where I work for Cisco in Software Development. Besides work, I love time with the family eating good food, watching TV/Movies and just being together. For fun, I enjoy playing basketball a few times a week. At Pathway, I am blessed to have the opportunity to play violin for worship. My wife (Betty) and I have two amazing daughters, Jilli and Kallie. This summer, both girls had the opportunity to attend JEMS Mt. Hermon summer camp, where Jilli served as a cabin leader for InterHigh and Kallie attended SeniorHigh. Betty has been busy with taking care of our family, and has also been supporting the children’s ministries at Pathway.

As we head towards the end of summer, I’ll be going on a missions trip to San Diego. I will be serving with my church, Pathway Community Church, in ministering and serving communities in San Diego, from July 28 - August 1.

This is my third time going down to San Diego, where we will be serving with Kaleo, a missions organization focused on partnering with local  Christian organizations and churches across urban cities in the US. I’m very excited to go on this year’s trip, as God has blessed me with an opportunity to serve alongside both my daughters, Jilli and Kallie. My hope is that my daughters will be blessed, and be a blessing while they serve. This will be Jilli’s third missions trip to San Diego, and I’m excited to see how God will use her experience and leadership to shepherd our first time missionaries to influence and make a impact on the communities we will serve. This will also be Kallie’s first missions trip, so I am exited to see how God will use her to serve and grow her faith, as she witnesses God’s work through and around her. I hope to be able to have a week where I can be completely focused on serving God, and be a blessing to those I’ll serve.

My hope is that God will unite our team and bring us together. For opportunities to share the gospel during the trip, and that each team member will experience being used by God in leading people to accepting Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

Thanks,

Dickon

Hi! My name is Emi and I am about to start high school as a 9th grader. I play competitive basketball, and i am getting ready to go to san diego for a missions trip. I just came back from a youth camp, and wanted to show more people God's love through our actions, especially those who don't know him yet or are distant from him.

Please pray for our team's safety when we travel, for our health, and for the connections that we make in the week that we are there. We are looking for people to help our team as prayer support, if you would like to join please send me your email.

Jilli W

Hello!

My name is Jilli Wong! I just finished my first year at UC Davis where I’m double majoring in Communications and Design. My first year of college was such a blessing from making new friends and living in the dorms to finding a community through joining AACF. Another highlight for me recently was being able to cabin lead at JEMS Camp! From July 27th to August 2nd, God has called me to go on a missions trip with Pathway Community Church, working with an organization called Kaleo to San Diego. When I was in middle school, I went on two similar missions trips to San Diego. Those trips played a huge part in teaching me what it means to imitate Jesus in the ways that he sacrificially loved and served others. This year our trip will include serving at a program for those recovering from alcohol and drug abuse, cold contact evangelism, and participating in a food and furniture distribution ministry. I’m so excited to go back and serve somewhere that holds a special place in my heart!

I would greatly appreciate your prayer as our team serves during the week!

  • For our hearts to be surrendered to what God has for us, whether it’s in our plans or if it’s unexpected
  • That we would not focus on ourselves or the results that are produced, but that we would be faithful in serving him without expecting any recognition or reward
  • For the hearts of each person we meet, that they would be able to see and experience God’s love through us
  • For boldness to proclaim the gospel without fear when there are opportunities to share
  • For the ministries that we will be working with and the ways that God is already working in San Diego
  • Health and safety for our team

Thank you so much for making it this far in my letter! We would love for you to join our home team. If you can support us by committing to pray for us, please let me know and we will add you to our email list! So so thankful for your support, your friendship, and your prayers!!

Much love,

Jilli

Kallie W

Hello friends and family,

My name is Kallie. I am currently entering my junior year this coming fall at Emerald High School. This summer, I will be participating in Pathway Community Church’s mission trip to San Diego with my church family. Over the week, our team of youth and adults will be serving refugees, the homeless, programs with people working through addiction recovery, and serving along local ministries and churches.

This is my first mission trip and I am looking forward to experiencing this for the first time. I’ve been eagerly waiting for this trip since I grew up watching my dad and older sister, Jilli, participate in San Diego missions. My family would always come home with a lot of excitement and a new fire for God which has inspired me to go on missions this year. I am looking forward to serving God’s people as well as non-believers, being able to hear their stories, learn about their culture, and show God’s love to them.

Please pray for safety and good health as our team is traveling there and back as well as when we are serving around the different places around the area. On a spiritual level, please also pray that the Holy Spirit will work through our team and that we will be able to speak truth and love to those that we encounter.

We would love for you to join our home team. If you can support us by committing to pray for us, please let us know and we will add you to our email list.

Lois and Ethan

Hello friends and family,

We hope this letter finds you well! Our names are Lois and Ethan, and we are so blessed to take part in learning about this Summer’s San Diego Missions trip. We are currently enjoying the summer off from work at the school district and from school. As you know, this summer, we have an incredible opportunity to go on a mission trip to San Diego to serve refugees, the homeless, programs with people working through addiction recovery, and serving alongside local ministries and churches. While we’re there, we’ll be serving refugees, ministering to the homeless, participating in addiction recovery programs, and partnering with local

churches and ministries. We’re going because we believe God calls us to love and serve those who are less fortunate than us, and we’re excited to be His hands and feet in this community.

We would really appreciate your prayers as we prepare and go. Please pray:

  • For our team to be unified, humble, and Spirit-led
  • For boldness and compassion as we serve
  • That the people we meet would experience God’s love in a real and lasting way
  • For my own heart to be open, teachable, and focused on Christ throughout this trip

We would love for you to be part of our home team. If you’re willing to support us through prayer and encouragement, please let us know so we can add you to our email list for updates before and during the trip. If you also feel led to support us financially, you can do so by going to www.pathwaycc.co/giving and marking any donation with a note for SD Missions.

Thank you so much for your love and support. I hope that God can use us in His ways, and to share the word with others!

Thanks and with Love,

Lois and Ethan

Dear family and friends,

From July 27 to August 2, 2025, Luke and I will be joining a team from our church, Pathway Community, to provide assistance to refugees, homeless, and addiction recovery individuals in the San Diego area. We will be working with Kaleo Missions, along with our hosts, Jeremy and Jennifer.

Some of the ministries we may be involved in include the following:

  • East County Transitional Living Center (ECTLC): provides emergency housing for homeless individuals or those encountering domestic abuse; employment training, addiction recovery, and family case management
  • Bridge of Hope: assisting families in transition, such as refugees, those who are homeless, or those affected by domestic violence
  • Luv on Fire: a ministry for those with disabilities and/or special needs, Luv On Fire provides services with worship, Biblical messages, prayer, and fellowship

Our team consists of 15 individuals, 7 of whom are youth. This will be my third mission trip (Mexico 1999 and Romania 2005), but my first domestic one. I am especially excited that Luke and I will be able to serve together.

We would greatly appreciate your prayers before and during the week. These are some of our

requests:

  • Team safety, health, unity, and flexibility
  • Courage to spread the truth and love of Jesus’s plan of salvation
  • Transportation logistics: we will be driving to and from San Diego. We also have one team member who will be flying.
  • Openness and compassion to all we interact with
  • The approximate cost for each member is $390. If you feel led to help financially, you may send a check made out to Pathway Community Church. You may also donate at https://www.pathwaycommunitychurch.org/giving

Thank you! God bless,

Megan

Peter and Gracie

Dear Friends and Family:

We’d like to share with you that Gracie and I are going to take a trip that will hopefully be a life-changing experience for the people we serve and grow our serving hearts.

As most of us are aware, homelessness in California is a growing crisis. Many of the homeless are families with children as well as individuals working to overcome unemployment, high housing costs, health-related issues, mental illness, neurological disabilities. Life on the streets can be brutal.

God has presented to Gracie and I an opportunity to be part of a challenging ministry from July 27th to Aug 1st in San Diego, as a part of a mission trip with Pathway’s Community Church. We will be servicing and supporting the homeless and an addiction recovery ministry. At this point we plan to aid in a variety of activities such as food distribution, youth camp, prayer ministry, etc.

We also pray God will use this opportunity to teach us to rely on Him and deepen our faith.

More than anything, we value your prayers for our team and those whose lives will be touched by God through us. We believe that God answers prayers, and we’re asking you to pray for safety, good health, smooth travel, and financial support. If you wish to contribute to our financial goal to raise money to help cover lodging costs please reply to this email. Again, just knowing that you will be praying will provide us strength and peace as we go into an unfamiliar place.

Deuteronomy 15:11:

"For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, 'You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.”

We ask you to pray for the following ...

BLESS

B – Body   - Pray for physical health and nutrition of all.

L – Labor    - Pray for work, finances, and provision

E – Emotions - Pray for our emotional well-being of all - joy, peace & hope.

S – Social   - Pray for social relationships of the team and our new friends.

S – Spiritual  - Pray for spiritual growth and God nourishes the souls of the homeless.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. May God bless you for your time and support.

Sincerely,

Gracie and Peter Yee

Tim L

Hello friends and family!

My name is Tim and I am one of the pastors at Pathway Community Church. It has been quite a journey of life and ministry with this incredible church! For nearly a decade, Pathway brought a team of mixed ages (youth through adults) to San Diego and Portland for domestic missions trips through a ministry called Kaleo Missions. Those trips have been on paused since the beginning of the covid pandemic, but we have an opportunity to return to San Diego this year!

What makes this trip extra special for me is that for the first time, instead of leaving my family behind as I go to serve, I actually get to bring my children along with me. Aki (starting middle school) and Emi (starting high school) will also be coming with us to serve communities in need. I am so excited to be able to share God’s love and this work to people in need, and to do it alongside both of them as they grow in their faith and life worship.

Please pray that this upcoming trip will be first and foremost about God and His glory. He has already been working in San Diego. We are not going down there for our experience, but to be a part of what He has been working. There are some changes in how Kaleo runs its ministries in cities, so please pray that the few of us that have gone before will be open and flexible to how the program is run. Please also pray for first time attendees, that as they are challenged to take steps of faith, that they will do so boldly and that they will see how God works to show His love and grace through people who are simply willing to go.

Thank you for your support!
